All about Bounce Back
We all face challenges at times. Sometimes they can be difficult to deal with and get on top of us. By building our resilience we can bounce back from difficulties and feel ourselves again. But it takes planning, practicing and learning.
That’s what Bounce Back Newham is all about. It’s a resilience programme for young people living in Newham, designed to help you think about the challenges you face and find ways to deal with them.
Bounce Back in the classroom
If you are on the Bounce Back programme at your school, you will work with a Youth Practitioner, Teacher, Learning Mentor and perhaps your parent or carer in groups or one-to-one sessions to:
- Identify ‘moves’ that might help you feel more resilient
- Plan how you can tackle the problems you face
- Make your move to put your plan into action
- Think about how it went
- Learn what went well and what you could do better next time when you try again.
Bounce Back online
Whether you are involved in a Bounce Back course at your school or not, this website is here for anyone who wants to learn about resilience. It can help when you’re looking for ideas, inspiration and motivation.
You’ll find lots of useful tips and tricks here. And you’ll also find stories from lots of people about how they have bounced back and achieved their dreams. You’ll be working on ‘moves’ in your everyday life that affect how you feel, like sleeping better or doing what you’re good at. You’ll also develop some new ‘skills’ along the way, like planning for success and learning from experience.
And there’s a check-in tool to see how things are going and get new ideas for moves.
You can come back, check and plan new moves whenever you like.
What exactly is resilience?
